CUSTOM VINYL STICKER AND MESH FABRIC DESIGN

 

 

THE INSTALLATION AIMS TO CELEBRATE MYTHS, WELSH AND WELSH INSPIRED. THE WINDOWS ACT AS PORTALS THAT FILTER NATURAL LIGHT AND ENHANCE IT WITH COLOUR THROUGH THE MESH FABRIC WHILST COMPOSITIONALLY, PRESENT TWO CENTRES THAT MIMIC THE IRISES OF TWO EYES. THE FIRST WINDOW PRESENTS AN ENORMOUS STRAWBERRY IN ITS CENTRE. SURROUNDING IT A UNICORN, A MISCHIEVOUS MONKEY AND A GOBLIN WITH A SNAKE ON ITS CLAW LIKE FINGERS, ALL MAKING A MOVE ON THE ILLUMINATED FRUIT OF KNOWLEDGE. ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WINDOW A MESH FABRIC SHOWCASES A HEART WITH FLAMES GROWING TO LICK ITS CORE. WITH ITS MYSTICAL REFERENCES THIS EYE AIMS TO HIGHLIGHT THE IMAGINATIVE POSSIBILITIES OF KNOWLEDGE AND THE THIRST IN IT.

 

THE SECOND WINDOW THEMATICALLY EXPLORES THE WELSH MYTH OF BLODEUEDD, A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN FORGED FROM FLOWERS BY THE MAGICIANS MATH AND GWYDION. IN THIS SCENE SHE IS. BEING TRANSFORMED INTO AN OWL BY MAGICIAN GWYDION AS A PUNISHMENT FOR BETRAYING HER HUSBAND AND ATTEMPTING TO MURDER HIM WITH HER NEW LOVER. ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WINDOW THE MESH FABRIC, PRESENTS A FALLING STAR THAT EXPLODES IN THE FOREST LANDSCAPE, FRAMING THE FIRE AS THE EVER DISTRACTIVE AND PRIMITIVE FORCE AND BEGINNING POINT OF MANY STORIES.
